Aware of being part of an ever evolving environment, GRG is reacting to the societal needs of the communities that surround it. John Coates, CEO of GRG, created a number of ongoing corporate social responsibility initiatives, including the provision of fire training for crews, which are almost exclusively volunteer-based, in impoverished countries, as well as supporting schools in Thailand where he is based.
This sort of activity is important for GRG, as the company recognizes a responsibility to give back to the community and society as the company grows and develops.
GRG’s CSR Program also supports Prostate Scotland, various Wats throughout Thailand, the Clean Beach Challenge, Cyclone Relief in the Philippines and various other causes, as well as feeding dogs living without homes or care.
Committed in helping those in needs and aware of the key role of receiving a good education during childhood, GRG organized last friday a new operation of its CSR program. John Coates and his team went to a local primary school at Bang Kao, Cha-am district and with the support of GRG, provide food and lunch for 63 children. GRG is involved in giving children food and joy via a continuous partnership with that school and seeing the warm welcome and the happiness of all the children, it gives us even more faith and drive in pursuing our action. Not every child receives the nutrition needed on a daily basis according to a multitude of NGO organizations across the world. To play a part in supporting children, GRG has initiated a Feed the Children Program in southern Thailand wherein they support rural schools with food and money to make a small difference in a few children’s lives who might not otherwise have enough to eat. GRG provides hot lunches monthly and boxed lunches on request to selected schools.

Near the end of 2019 a Peace Corps volunteer, teaching in a rural school in Thailand approached GRG’s Chief Officer John Coates to ask if he would play Santa Claus for the school’s underprivileged children. Not only did he accept the challenge, but he also invited GRG’s Corporate Social Responsibility program to participate. Thanks to the generosity of GRG, we bought a toy for all 240+ kids through our CSR program. This generous event would not have happened without the assistance of Rinda Coates, Khun Oong and Peace Corps volunteer Betsy Burke.
The Christmas party at a rural elementary school was one of the best experiences of my life. It was the first Christmas for many of these children, and for many, the first time someone has given them a toy.

Having an office in Thailand and getting married to a Thai woman, John Coates played the role of Santa Claus at a Thai primary school. Thanks to the generosity of GRG, we could buy a toy for all 240+ kids through our CSR program. Thank you, also, to my lovely wife Rinda Coates for helping me with this crazy dream and thank you to my elf Khun Oong and Peace Corps Betsy Burke. Merry Christmas.
